Embracing Age
We train volunteers to spend time and build friendship with frail older people living in care homes. Care home residents are twice as likely to feel severely lonely as community dwelling seniors. One resident in her 90's described it as being alone in a crowd. Our volunteers respond to the interests of residents in choosing what to do. It may simply be chatting, or doing a crossword, giving manicures and hand massages, going for a walk or helping withIT skills.
